This demo provides valuable insights into highly efficient Korean handbuilding and paddling approaches which can inform your own work. Regardless of your prior experience—whether working with clay for days or decades—witnessing the Onggi process is both an enriching learning experience and an engaging spectacle as Kwak works with clay at a scale and with finesse that is fascinating. ■ Explore Onggi beyond its popular image as large fermentation vessels. Understand it as a holistic approach—a way of working with specific clays and firing conditions, rooted deeply in Korean culture and serving humanity both literally and figuratively. Learn how cultural, geographical, and culinary contexts shaped these unique techniques. ■ Watch as Teacher Kwak forms an onggi vessel from start to finish.
