Service Description

It isn’t always the size of an object that makes it powerful; a skillfully designed form with a rich surface can often upstage a grand vessel. During this 2-day intensive workshop, explore Steve Kelly’s unique process, from throwing and altering forms, to stamping, drawing, etching and underglaze work. There will be demonstrations and hands-on projects each day. Students will make their own forms as well as work with forms made by the artist. Day one focuses on cups, vases or pitchers as well as making clay stamps. On day two students will learn to stamp and etch the forms from the previous day. As well as decorate surfaces. Steve will focus on two processes that are very specific to his work- water etching and underglaze layering. Intermediate wheel skills are required for this course. Finished pieces can be fired for a fee and will be available for pick-up after the workshop. Disclaimer: Registration for this workshop is non-refundable. No refunds, credits, or make-up sessions will be provided for cancellations or missed classes.
