Service Description

You've mastered the fundamentals and now it's time to push further. This 10 week course is designed for potters ready to build on their foundation with greater height, sharper form, and more intentional design at the wheel. Each session introduces new techniques to expand your throwing vocabulary, including pulling taller shapes with confidence and throwing off the hump for efficiency and repetition. You'll also explore surface decoration methods, including underglaze, resists, slips, and other approaches for adding pattern and detail to your forms. Alongside this, you'll work toward creating matching sets, such as mugs, bowls, or place settings, developing the consistency and control needed to produce cohesive bodies of work. By the end of the course, you'll have refined your centering, shaping, and finishing skills, along with a stronger eye for proportion and design. Whether you're aiming for taller forms, cleaner lines, or a more polished studio practice, this course will help you get there. Students should be comfortable centering and pulling 3+ pounds of clay and have basic handbuilding knowledge. About The Instructor: Camila Lim-Hing is a ceramic artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Camila’s work draws inspiration from their multicultural background and the vivid memories of her childhood in Jamaica and South Florida. Her Chinese and Hispanic heritage infuse her creations with a blend of cultural influences that enrich her artistic vision. With over ten years of ceramic experience, she has accumulated an in depth understanding in both hand building and wheel throwing, integrating functionality, sculpture, and painting.
